We have recently welcomed a new member to our team – Matt. Today we would like to introduce him with our first in a series of staff profiles.
Name: Matt James
Position: Accounts Assistant
What do you do at PayKeeper?
I will be doing a mixture of things in both accounting and marketing. I will be doing the weekly bank reconciliations and looking after the social media side of things.
What relevant experience did you have before taking up this role?
I have a degree in Economics, along with A Level and GCSE Business Studies. I am also a social media manager for an online community group.
What is your favourite Movie or TV show?
My favourite TV show ever is West Wing. My favourite show that is current is probably Designated Survivor or Arrow. I really like political dramas and superhero shows.
If you were a superhero, what superpower would you have?
I think having the ability to fly would be pretty cool.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy hiking, reading and browsing the web. I’m very interested in politics and spirituality. I am also into home brewing.
You have been asked to choose a country to spend six months in. Where would it be?
Definitely South Korea. I loved my experience teaching English there for a year and really got into the culture. It’s a great country that I’d like to go back and visit at some point.
Do you have any funny jokes or quotes you can share with us?
Sure. My computer beat me at chess the other day. But it was no match for me at Kickboxing!
What book would you recommend for having a positive impact on your life?
It’s hard to choose just one book. I’m quite an introvert so the book “how to win friends and influence people” helped me when I was younger to learn better conversation skills and to be a bit more outgoing.
What musician would you most like to meet and why?
Enya. She has been one of my favourite singers since I was a child. Her music is brilliant and I would love to go to a live concert one day.
What is your closest brush with fame?
I was an elected local councillor in Devon for four years.
